Dogwoods
The dogwoods are in full, riotous bloom. I have 6 different dogwoods in my yard ranging from shrubby to tree type. Today I have chosen my newest dogwood: Venus Dogwood, to highlight. It's large lime tinged, white blooms, are everything I had hoped for when I planted it last fall. It is the focal point for my 'front yard rejuvenation' project. I purchased 'Venus' from The Plant Farm at Smokey Point, a wonderful (and huge) nursery north of Seattle. Now I am off to weed, weed, weed! Thanks to all of you well wishers, my elbow has improved. I only intend on weeding for a short time.

The other persons dogwood is always greener. I'm sure there are folks across the country coveting the ease with which people in my zone can grow certain plants, but dogwood is the one I wish we could grow down here in SoCal. I worked as a landscape architect in the SF Bay Area for a few years and once you get inland, Dogwood is one of the great plants in the palette. Alas, I'll have to be content with my brimming cornucopia of subtropical and Mediterranean plants.
Thanks for you comments at my cactus posting. We'll see if Our Lady of the Desert pops in to unveil the mystery.
Six different Dogwoods? I didn't know there were so may varieties. The flowers are lovely. Happy GTS,

Lovely! I do miss the dogwoods of the Pacific NW. I've a dogwood bush that I planted last year, but it's not the same at all.

Found a plausible answer to the bizarre cactus I posted for Green Thumb Sunday. Click over if you're interested.
