5. Merida at Night

Merida at night is the perfect place for strolling and enjoying late dinners with friends. On Thursday night we reunited with our friends Katia and Patricia (We missed out on seeing Raquel! 🤒 We hope she is feeling better soon.) We ate at a new restaurant on Montejo called Casa Chica.

On our way home we walked through Mercado 60 which is a sort of upscale food court and on Friday night we ate here. I chose a Oaxacan quesadilla like food called a Tlayuda. I was skeptical that I would like it because it has a thin layer of unrefined lard between beans and cheese, but it really wasn't a noticeable taste. Chris had a hamburger done to his satisfaction at a different stall.

After eating we went to the Eskalera gallery in the Santiago Neighborhood where we met up with my expat friend Susanne.

Then we strolled through the Santiago square where this group of ukulele players was warming up.

And on up Calle 60 to our hotel on Calle 55.
